We are an active club, part of Hertie School. Our institution, The Hertie School, is a private, independent, and international institution of higher education based in Berlin, Germany. Founded in 2003, the school has quickly gained a reputation for its innovative approach to teaching and research in the field of public policy, international affairs, and data science.
Located in the heart of Berlin, the Hertie School is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment that brings together students, faculty, and staff from around the world. Through a unique blend of theoretical knowledge and practical skills, the school equips its graduates to tackle pressing global challenges and make meaningful contributions to the public, private, and non-profit sectors.
Founded in October 2022 in the vibrant city of Berlin, Germany, the Hertie Coding Club was created with the belief that coding is amazing, meaningful, well-rewarded, and easy to learn. The club aims to provide the Hertie community with a platform for learning and developing coding skills for multiple purposes.
The Hertie Coding Club focuses primarily on the R programming language, a versatile and powerful tool that enables users to analyze and visualize data effectively. By offering material and collaborative learning opportunities, the club strives to help members develop essential skills that can be applied to their academic and professional pursuits.
As a club, we envision Hertie students not only excelling in public policy debates and analyses but also possessing the ability to collect, manipulate, and process data. By mastering coding and data wrangling skills, our vision is that members and anybody at the Hertie Community can become both data analysts and public policymakers at the same time. We believe that data wrangling, visualization, and table generation are essential skills for everyone at Hertie. Ultimately, our vision is to create a vibrant and supportive environment that empowers individuals to achieve their coding goals and contribute to the Hertie community's overall success.
At the Hertie Coding Club, we think that everyone can learn how to code. We want that everyone feel accepted and valued at the club. It doesn't matter what you do, where you come from or how much do you know- we're here to support you.
We want everyone to learn and benefit from our events and resources, so we always make sure we offer tools for different skill levels. We believe that diversity and inclusion are essential in driving creativity, and we strive to create a culture that values and celebrates these principles within the Hertie Coding Club.
We partenered with The Hertie School Data Science Lab. This lab is a research and training hub that tackles societal challenges with computational and data-intensive methods. Their mission is to foster, advance and promote excellence in data science research, education and application to enable better decision-making for the common good. The Hertie School Data Science Lab will leverage and amplify breakthroughs in data science and artificial intelligence (AI) to tackle major societal problems.
